A few misconceptions tend to follow discussions of pharmacy in Mexico. One is assuming there’s nothing to verify: in reality, trade names and packaging rarely match their U.S. counterparts, so the generic (active ingredient) name is the most reliable reference point. Another common assumption gets the details backwards on cost or convenience, when in fact prices for many maintenance medications run well below typical U.S. retail. A third misunderstanding overlooks a practical detail that matters more than people expect: checking expiration dates and manufacturer details on the box is worthwhile no matter which pharmacy you’re shopping at. Clearing up these points ahead of time makes for a much more informed approach to pharmacy in Mexico.
